Pancake day (late again)

I tried making pancakes (or http://bread.allrecipes.com/az/BasicCrepes.asp(crépes)) this evening for the first time in ages. I used to make them all the time at uni as they were a cheap and tasty snack, if a bit of a http://www.firstfoot.com/php/glossary/phpglossar_0.8/index.php?letter=f(footer).

My mixture was 100g plain, flour, 100ml semi-skimmed milk and 2 large free-range eggs. My method was: firstly to sift the flour; then crack the two eggs into the flour and whisk them while gradually including more and more flour. Then slowly add the milk till you come a smooth, creamy looking and fairly viscous batter. I also added a teaspoon of oil to the batter to help it in the frying. Then heat a wee bit of oil in the pan, add some batter and flip away!

The long drive north

The road from Glasgow north to Inverness is the A9, possibly one of the most frustrating roads in Britain. After Perth it is single-carriageway most of the way up and you get stuck behind tractors, lorries, old biddies out to get their shopping and just general ditherers.

There are sporadic stretches of dual-carriageway but they are few and far between. One reason why the A9 is so frustrating is that once you hit one of these stretches of dual-carriageway the person dithering in front of you decides they want to speed up since they've got this nice wide road in front of them now. What's wrong with driving at that speed the rest of the time you cretin!!

PS - I didn't take these photos, my sister did!

Myself and mate (Mike) went to visit our friend from university (Graham) who lives in Ireland. We were both flying in to Dublin on the friday night so Graham who lives in Naas (pronounced 'nayz' I think) came and collected us.

The next day we went on a day trip to Dublin, saw a few sights, went on the Guinness brewery tour, and had a pint of the black stuff!
